Welcome to the Red Rose Inn in Historic Bardstown, Kentucky. We are located downtown at 209 East Stephen Foster Avenue. The name came from the songwriter Stephen Collins Foster song “Ah, May The Red Rose Live Always”.
Come in and stay in our 1820 Late Victorian Style Bed & Breakfast. It is on the “National Register of Historic Places”. The Red Rose Inn has five decorative fireplaces. Master Craftsman Alexander Moore had a hand in designing and building some of the fireplaces for the Red Rose Inn. Moore was a well known craftsman that was involved in the building of Federal Hill, “My Old Kentucky Home”.
We have four beautiful large guest rooms with private baths. You can sip your coffee or cocktail on the back deck overlooking a large yard with Koi pond or on the front porch planning your visit. Once you settle in, you’re only steps away from our beautiful downtown and all it has to offer. There is plenty of shopping, restaurants, and nightlife.
Guest will be treated to a delicious homemade country breakfast as well as snacks, water or soft drinks. You won’t start your day hungry!
Start your visit at the Old Courthouse, the Visitor Center. They can help you plan your visit to attractions nearby and directions. There is plenty to do in “The Most Beautiful Small Town In America” voted by Rand McNally and USA Today. Check out My Old Kentucky Home State Park to watch “The Sun Shine Bright On My Old Kentucky Home”. You can explore the Bourbon Trail and Distilleries in the Bourbon Capital of the World(tm). We were welcomed by the very warm and friendly couple who own this property. We arrived early, and they were very accommodating. Our room was on the first floor, which we chose, was very spacious with a comfy king size bed. They showed us around the property, which has a beautiful backyard deck surrounded with shade trees. So peaceful! The front of the property is just a block from downtown which has so many nice boutiques, cafes, fun hangouts, antique stores! The next morning, we had the most amazing breakfast!!! Fresh fruit, crumb cake (wish i had brought a piece home with me!), a breakfast casserole, country ham and bacon! All served with the best southern hospitality we have ever experienced. The Hursts are truly have a gift of hospitality. You can't go wrong staying here. Beautiful, clean, comfortable, convenient and hospitable. Enjoy!
This is our favorite B&B in Bardstown! We’ve visited the area a half dozen times in recent years & have stayed at Red Rose Inn the past 3 times. We love the easy 2 block walk to restaurants, shops & bistros as well strolling about this charming town. It’s an easy drive to many other points of interest in the area. This past April was our first visit under the B&B’s new owners, Susan & David Hurst both of whom are equally welcoming & gracious. Also they provide a substantial breakfast. They are not intrusive hosts but as life long residents of Bardstown can provide much information about area history, places to go, etc. The Inn has a comfy, homey elegance and actually appears younger than its years (cir 1820). The Hurst’s are progressively making improvements to the landscaping and interior while keeping its lovely character. We will be back!
Party of 4 adults from Scotland making their first visit to Kentucky. Bardstown is a beautiful place and The Red Rose Inn made our visit all the more special. The breakfasts are outstanding especially when you have the added delight of enjoying breakfast on the large deck at the rear of the Inn. The Inn itself is excellent and positioned right smack in the middle of town. Rooms are large, well appointed and maintained. Extra special was wee Rosie, King Charles spaniel, who kept us amused with her antics. Cannot recommend The Red Rose Inn too highly. Thank you for a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
We were both born and raised in Bardstown and are very proud of our community. Our two beautiful daughters have left the nest and are making us very proud of the path they are on. This new chapter of our lives is going to be an adventure and we hope to succeed in making our house guests relaxed and comfortable. Come and stay a spell.
Our home is your Bed & Breakfast, Red Rose Inn.
